Assistant Director, Student Leadership Development history month profiles

What is your current job title and responsibilities?
Assistant Director, Leadership Development. I am responsible for developing/facilitating campus-wide leadership programming for students and targeted student populations.

What is your history at UCF? (past job titles, responsibilities)
When I first started working at UCF I served as an Academic Advisor in the Student Academic Resource Center

What is your favorite UCF memory?
My favorite UCF memory goes back to when one of my student’s Peterson St. Philippe was accepted into Law School at Stetson University. To see him progress through UCF as a First Generation student trying to figure out this thing called college, achieving academic success and ultimately be accepted to Law School was a great feeling because I was a part of his journey and I helped him achieve success. He now owns his own law firm in South Florida.

If you could change one thing at UCF, what would it be? ($ and time no object)
I would renovate Colburn Hall and the Math & Physics Building.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your colleagues?
Slow down and enjoy the campus- randomly walk up to a student and start a conversation

What is your favorite restaurant or food?
I love Big Fin Seafood Kitchen, it’s Amazing!

What is your favorite book or movie or song?
Imitation of Life

What is your favorite sport to watch or participate?
I am a HUGE football fan! I play Fantasy Football every year

If UCF was going to name something in your honor, what would you like it to be?
A patch of grass under a tree around the reflection pond, the grassy area around the reflection pond is my favorite spot on campus. I enjoy when the weather is great and the students are sitting around reading and studying outside, it really reminds me of the beauty of this college campus.

If you could have lunch with anyone at UCF, who would you choose and why?
Dr. Deborah German, she is truly a fascinating and innovative leader that has accomplished much on behalf of UCF. I am interested in knowing what goes through her mind as she establishes UCF’s presence in the area of medical education.

Who at UCF would you like to thank for your success?
Ms. DeLaine Priest, Associate Vice President, SDES. DeLaine has been a gracious Mentor, providing advice, feedback, encouragement and support throughout my journey at UCF first as a student and now as a professional. Words cannot express how grateful I am that I have the BEST Mentor!

Name and describe a teacher from you past who truly inspired you.
My first grade teacher Ms. Clune really instilled in me a strong desire to learn. Ms. Clune made learning fun, exciting and made it valuable to 6 & 7 year olds, I always entered her class wondering “what will I learn today.”  Her passion for learning inspired me to always be open to learning something new.
