Center for Success of Women Faculty Awards
CSWF Women of Distinction Award
The UCF Center for Success of Women Faculty – Women of Distinction Award is designed to highlight the achievements of outstanding women faculty at UCF in areas that are not traditionally acknowledged at UCF. Three awards are given out annually, one to a faculty member with 1- 5 years of service, one to a faculty member with 6 – 10 years of service, and one to a faculty member with 10+ years of service. The topic of this award changes on a three year rotation; the three topics are Excellence in Mentoring; Excellence in Community Engagement & Outreach; and Excellence in Innovation. Women faculty who are full-time UCF employees (faculty appointment types: full professors, associate professors, assistant professors, clinical faculty, research faculty, associate and assistant lecturers, associate and assistant instructors, librarians) are eligible to apply. Winners will be announced at the President’s Welcome Reception for Women Faculty at the start of each fall semester.

LIFE @ UCF Women Faculty Excellence Award Winners
With generous support from LIFE @ UCF, the LIFE @ UCF Women Faculty Excellence Awards celebrate and promote President Hitt’s five strategic goals. Each year represents one of the five goals: offer the best undergraduate education; achieve international prominence in key programs of graduate study and research; provide international focus to our curricula and research programs; become more inclusive and diverse; and be America’s leading partnership university. Three awards are given annually during the spring semester. Women faculty who are full-time UCF employees (faculty appointment types: full professors, associate professors, assistant professors, clinical faculty, research faculty, associate and assistant lecturers, associate and assistant instructors, librarians) are eligible to apply.

Dr. Keri Watson is a recipient of an NEA grant of $16,000.00 to host The Big Read in Orlando. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and to encourage citizens to read for pleasure and enlightenment. In celebration of the 115th anniversary of John Steinbeck’s birth, the University of Central Florida, in conjunction with Seminole County Public Libraries, will host a series of events between Feb. 27 and Apr. 14, 2017 about Steinbeck’s seminal text The Grapes of Wrath. http://www.neabigread.org/communities/?community_id=2241

Dr. Claire Connolly Knox, Assistant Professor and Emergency Management & Homeland Security Program Director, received the 2015 Florida Emergency Preparedness Association’s Gary Arnold Award. The award is in recognition of her dedicated, unselfish, and enthusiastic service to improving the Florida emergency management community. Dr. Deb German honored as Renaissance Woman in Medicine.
Dr. Dorothy Norris-Tirrell received the received the 2014 Donato J. Pugliese Award from the Southeastern Conference for Public Administration (SECoPA). The annual award is given to recognize service, leadership and commitments to the public service in the Southeast. Dr. Norris-Tirrell has served SECoPA in many capacities including board member, President, and, most recently, as a very successful chair of Endowment Committee. Dorothy Norris-Tirrell.10-7-14
